My Story

Artist Statement
I was raised to admire and respect nature and my family always loved being outdoors. I take every opportunity to go into the woods or a hike in the mountains. I love the feel of the wind on my face and the smell of the forest after the rain… I enjoy foraging, gardening and surrounding myself with house plants.
All that is reflected in my art. I paint landscapes because they leave me in awe of their beauty! I paint animals because they are such an important part of the landscape, our cohabitants on this planet, and their variety and their beauty are endless.
Birds fascinate me in particular because they symbolise the ultimate freedom. My art takes me where I want to be. It is my journey, my discovery, my adventure. It is my expression of the gratitude I feel. And it gives me the sense of freedom that I feel when being outdoors. In my art I want to invite others to go and explore and to admire and to feel part of it.

Artist Bio
Justyna Anwar was born in Poland and spent her childhood in the mountains, surrounded by a family that cherished nature and outdoor activities. Camping and hiking were central to her upbringing, and these passions have remained her favourites to this day. From a young age, Justyna was drawn to art, always exploring her creativity through drawing and colouring. As a teenager, she created her first oil painting, igniting a love for painting that would later define her life.
In her early twenties, Justyna moved to the UK and pursued a successful career in science, earning a PhD in Corrosion. However, the call to paint never left her, and years later, she decided to rekindle her artistic passion. She enrolled at the Milan Art Institute to study drawing and painting, further developing her craft.
Justyna’s artwork primarily focuses on landscapes, animals, and flowers, each piece evoking feelings of tranquillity, admiration, adventure, and challenge. Her love for the mountains runs deep; she finds beauty not only in their majestic landscapes but also in their ever-changing nature and timeless presence.
Foraging holds a special place in her heart, satisfying a primal need to connect with the land and find sustenance. She has a particular fondness for the animals of the woods and meadows—squirrels, deer, foxes, and birds. Painting these creatures allows her to feel connected to the natural world and its inhabitants. Through her art, Justyna invites others to join her in the pursuit of the joy and tranquillity that come from being immersed in this beautiful world.
Justyna’s studio is a vibrant space full of creative energy, where ideas transform into captivating works of art that touch people's hearts. She is married to a Pakistani man, and together they regularly travel to the Himalayas to experience the awe-inspiring beauty of the world's highest mountains. Looking ahead, Justyna plans to explore new artistic ideas centered around the three countries that are close to her heart: Poland, the UK, and Pakistan.
