“Raft” was inspired by my first journey into the Himalayas, where I went rafting in the Naran Valley. Surrounded by towering peaks and the relentless force of the river, I felt that familiar, humbling awareness — the sense of being small in a world far greater than ourselves. In a time when we often believe we can conquer anything, the mountains remind us of nature’s true power and our own fragility within it. This painting captures that mix of awe, vulnerability, and wonder that only the wild can awaken.
